My husband, daughter and I arrived in the UK in 1979 after we fled the Lebanon having endured very difficult times during the civil war. I arrived here without a degree or training and joined a PA TOPS training course run by the Department of Education. I worked predominantly in banking and stockbroking in the early days and, in 1989 and we moved to the Gulf where I worked for a number of blue-chip companies. My work in the insurance industry came about unexpectedly. In 2010 an ex-colleague put my name forward for an executive PA vacancy for a major insurer.
I feel that my life experiences have contributed to my success as a PA.
I was very surprised to be successful as at the time I had no industry experience or any experience at executive level. I was taken under the wing of a wonderful colleague who taught me the ropes and have been working in insurance as an executive PA ever since. I feel that my life experiences have contributed to my success as a PA and I’m so happy to still be fit and well enough to be working thus enabling me to fund my passion. If you haven’t already guessed from my picture – horses!
