Helen Kemp | Marsh
I started work in the 80s in the male dominated world of mining & construction. If ever you have watched the TV series Life on Mars a lot of what you see on the screen probably happened somewhere! Fortunately, I worked with a few forward-thinking male colleagues who pushed me outside of the expected norm, giving me opportunities to grow, pushing the boundaries of what was accepted and giving me challenges on a personal and professional level.
At the end of the 90s, I was still only one of two female manager’s in their UK operation. Thankfully, times have changed and I am privileged to continue to play my part in developing, encouraging and supporting the talented people I work with, improving their environment and opportunities.
I continue to strive to be the best I can be and encourage that approach in others.
There is nothing quite as satisfying as seeing someone who is gifted, hard-working and dedicated achieve success. Being part of their journey has definitely been the most rewarding role I have held. I continue to strive to be the best I can be and to encourage that approach in others. Whatever you do, do it to the best of your ability, with integrity and enthusiasm.
