I have been in the insurance industry for over 30 years, latterly as CEO of a listed managing agent. Nowadays I am a portfolio non-executive director for a number of (mostly) insurance businesses. I really love the opportunity that this gives me to continue to learn new things and to meet like-minded people, while at the same time giving me flexibility to pursue other passions. So I still find lots of time for mentoring, supporting and counselling the usually much younger aspiring women that I come across.

I have seen an enormous amount of change over my career, though not as much as I would have liked on the gender diversity front. Judging by many of the conversations that I have, there is still a great deal to do! But who would have thought that the biggest change would occur over the last two years as a result of a pandemic which has fundamentally changed attitudes towards work, especially remote working, for all time. I really enjoy the fact that work and home are now blended and that I can work in my study, in my garden or in a city office. How very lucky I am.
