Jill Frances | Victor Insurance
With my three children in tow, I left my small town roots of Wisconsin, USA where I started my career working for a small mutual insurance company to work for a global broker in Chicago as the only female producer on the team. This was the baptism of my career into the big leagues. Post 9/11, I was honoured to serve on a White House task force under President Bush to address the needs and challenges of securing the critical infrastructure of the country from cyber terrorism. The next baptism of my career was moving to London to take on the exciting role of Active Underwriter of our newly launched syndicate at Lloyd’s of London and now I am one of the few women in their history to hold this coveted role.
You do not have to fit the corporate or male mould to be successful.
The most valuable piece of career advice I could give is: you do not have to fit the corporate or male mould to be successful. The year I turned 50 I began my undergraduate work and earned my BSC in Business Management in 2.5 years and went on to earn an MA in Organisational Leadership. My graduation day was one of the proudest days of my life as it confirmed to me my love of lifelong learning.
