Twenty years ago, when I was a non- qualified actuary, I was promoted to run the actuarial department. My career then took a different turn and I managed business planning, outwards reinsurance, and CAT modelling, all of which challenged me as they were each a new direction. My evolving career did not end there though, as I joined Apollo in 2012 and in 2015 was promoted to Head of HR. I became a member of the Executive Team and, in 2021, I was then promoted into my current role, Chief of Staff.
Never think that your career should just have one trajectory, there may be many roles out there for you.
Be yourself, be kind and treat everyone with respect. Work hard and be conscientious. If these are achieved, then progress in your career should happen. Never think that your career should just have one trajectory, there may be many roles out there for you!
I am the mother of a lively teenager, so I spend a lot of time watching hockey and netball. I am also the treasurer for my daughter’s school parents association and her netball club. In my spare time I like socialising and chatting with friends and walking my two dogs.
