Alison Seargent | RenRe
I am a passionate champion of DEI in IT and of kindness in management. I joined RenRe in 2010 as AVP IT Servicedesk Manager, now SVP Head of Global IT Services and part of the RSM London Executive Management team. In 2012, I established an IT Apprenticeship program that has produced eight accomplished IT specialists from diverse backgrounds, continuing through the pandemic.
My advice is to find the things one is best at and build on those capabilities.
In 2019 my team successfully nominated me as one of 50 ‘Leading Lights in Kind Management’. I am passionate about encouraging youngsters into a career in technology, regularly speaking at schools and having mentored many students aged 14 to 58. I love learning new skills and in 2020, to better support my family, friends and colleagues through the pandemic I embarked upon an ILM 7 Coaching qualification and trained as a mental health champion.
My advice is to find the things one is best at and build on those capabilities. Those positive experiences, where we can excel and be at our very best both inwardly and outwardly, will provide the strongest foundations for confidence, encouraging growth and enabling us to learn new skills, improve old ones and excel as we develop and extend our careers.
